Spinnaker

ADDITIONAL SAILS

Spinaker

Sewing a spinnaker is an art — and at TormStorm, we’ve mastered it.
We design sails with optimal shape and volume to ensure stable performance and easier handling. We’re also specialists in spinnaker repair. Knowing how delicate the material is, we skillfully patch tears and replace entire panels (cloth strips), restoring full functionality.

  • Description & Application: A large, symmetrical sail with a balloon-like shape, used on downwind points of sail (from broad reach to dead run). It is flown free and its windward corner is kept away from the mast with the help of a spinnaker pole.
  • Key Features: Made from very lightweight nylon. Its symmetrical cut allows for efficient airflow when sailing directly downwind.
  • Advantages: Huge surface area and powerful drive, resulting in maximum speed on downwind courses.
  • Disadvantages: Handling requires experience and crew coordination; it is prone to wrapping and can be difficult to control during sudden wind shifts.
