- Description & Application: Like the cruising mainsail, it is designed for durability and ease of use. Often available as a furling version, which allows quick reefing or stowing without leaving the cockpit.
- Key Features: Made from Dacron, typically with a stitched-on UV protection strip to shield the sail when furled. Its cut is versatile, designed to perform well across a wide range of wind angles.
- Advantages: Easy to handle (especially when on a furler), durable, and reliable.
Disadvantages: Lower aerodynamic efficiency compared to racing sails.
